Singing is a Service

Members of the St. Michael's Boys' Choir sing.

Always remember that your singing is a service. It is a service to God, offering him the praise that is due. It is a service to other worshippers, helping them raise their hearts and minds in prayer. And it is a service to the whole Church, a foretaste of the heavenly liturgy in which the choirs of angels and saints unite in one unending song of love and praise.

St. Peter Canisius on CINO Catholics

A few Catholics pray in the back of the nave of St. Michael's Cathedral.

Better that only a few Catholics should be left, staunch and sincere in their religion, than that they should, remaining many, desire as it were, to be in collusion with the Church's enemies and in conformity with the open foes of our faith.

On the Feast of Blessed John Duns Scotus

An image of Our Blessed Mother in a stained glass window in the choir of St. Michael's Cathedral.

Allow me to praise You, O Most Holy Virgin; give me strength against your enemies.

Proverbs 22:6

The junior boys' choir from the nearby St. Michael's Choir School.

Give me a boy until the age of seven and I shall show you the man.
                         – St. Francis Xavier

Send your son to learn Gregorian chant and Catholic manhood in a school affiliated with the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome.  Then just sit back in your pew and swell with pride when he sings with the angels at Holy Mass in St. Michael's Cathedral.

Mea Culpa

A pillar supporting the choir loft of St. Michael's Cathedral.

Don’t be mad.  Nobody lied to you.  The pillars which (barely) support the choir loft also have a little bit of red and blue paint.

Catholic Boys' School

Boys' school:  It's a Catholic classic.  The St. Michael's Choir School is about two things:

1) Turning boys into Catholic gentlemen and
2) Giving Holy Mother Church gloriously Catholic sacred music.  That's right.  The good stuff (114-116).

Do something you'll never regret.  Send your sons to a (truly) Catholic boys' school where they will learn Christian fraternity and Gregorian chant.
